Arsenal set to announce first major summer signing

Arsenal have been looking to bolster their defence for a long time now, and this finally seems to be done, as young Frenchman, William Saliba from Saint-Etienne has reportedly decided to join Arsenal for €30 million.

According to reports, Saliba has made his decision and will sign for Arsenal, despite a rumoured late bid by Tottenham to sign the Frenchman.

Arsenal agreed a five-year deal with the 18-year-old centre-back last week, but due to the late interest from their North London rivals, the transfer was delayed, but it now seems to be back on track.

This will be Arsenal's second summer signing, after the signing of 18-year-old Gabriel Martinelli, yet this will definitely be the first major summer signing, with the defender potentially slotting right into the first team, especially with Laurent Koscielny reportedly wanting a move out of the club, and Shkodran Mustafi being so unreliable in defence.

Unai Emery made it clear in an interview that he is hopeful of signing "three or four players" in this window, and this seems to be a step in the right direction for the club.
