Mesut Ozil sends message to Mikel Arteta after Europa League omission

Mesut Ozil has sent a message to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, with the German midfielder being frozen out of the squad in the final year of his lucrative Arsenal contract.

Ozil has been out of the squad for months, not playing for Arsenal since March, with the Arsenal hierarchy being unhappy with the player's huge £350,000-a-week wages, as well as with the German's desire to stay at the club despite not being played.

However, Ozil is still determined to work his way back into Arteta's plans, being pictured smiling during training on numerous occasions.

Apart from this, Ozil is very active on social media as well, and his latest tweet might be a message to the Arsenal manager.

An Arsenal fan account posted a video of Ozil's performances under Arteta, hoping to prove to Arteta why the German playmaker should be used this season, and Ozil himself retweeted the tweet.

Quoting the retweet, Ozil said "#Startof2020, #throwback #M10 #YaGunnersYa".

However, many believe that Arteta's decision to omit Ozil from the squad could be due to decisions from the Arsenal board, not from the manager, and thus Arteta can be left helpless in such decisions.

Arteta has also not included Ozil in the 25-man UEFA Europa League squad for the coming season.

Ozil has been at Arsenal since 2013, and unless he is given an immense pay cut, he will most probably leave Arsenal in the summer when his current contract expires.
