Mauricio Pochettino has come under further scrutiny after a disastrous display on Tuesday, with Chelsea being wiped away 5-0 against Arsenal.

Chelsea have had a shocking season, but over the past few weeks they've had somewhat of a resurgence. However, in the space of four days, they've been knocked out of the FA Cup and been thrashed by London rivals Arsenal.

Leandro Trossard got Arsenal going in the fourth minute of the game, and while Chelsea missed a number of chances, the Gunners came out firing again after the break, scoring four more in the space of 20 minutes, holding out for a comfortable 5-0 win.

The loss leaves the Blues in ninth, while Arsenal have opened up a temporary three-point gap at the top of the table. Pochettino's future is now up in the air, not for the first time this season.

Speaking to the media after the game, Pochettino said: "Difficult performance because it is not nice to see your team play like this when you are meant to have full energy. After three days when you play a fantastic game against Manchester City, today we are disappointed."

He added that he is disappointed as the performance was underwhelming and Chelsea failed to start the game in the manner they wanted to. "We made things easy for Arsenal," he continued.

"We put in a fantastic performance at Wembley and then today, you can lose a game at Arsenal but in the way we competed, why one day, three days ago and then today in this way?" Pochettino said.

While many were quick to state that not having Cole Palmer available proved to be the deciding factor, Pochettino said that they cannot keep saying that this was the reason for the loss, but losing a creative player "who helps to link the team" does have an impact.

When asked whether he is let down by the players, he said that this is not the case. "There are different circumstances. It is an experience we need to make sure it doesn't happen in the future. The club is building a new project, a new way to operate. Of course this is the risk," Pochettino said.

The win leaves Chelsea with plenty to do in order to have any hope of making it into Europe, especially with the games they have left, particular with Tottenham up next.
