Manchester United have been continuously linked with a January move for Independiente del Valle midfielder Moises Caicedo, yet reports are indicating that the Ecuadorian is set to join Brighton instead.

The teenager has been strongly linked with a move to United this month, and he has attracted attention from other clubs as well.

Reports from Ecuador have claimed that a move to United was all but done, yet 'legal issues' prolonged the deal even more before it could be completed.

Top tier football journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed on Twitter that United are now "oriented not to sign Moises Caicedo".

Whilst he has been heavily "scouted and Man Utd were in control of the situation because Moises' dream was to join #mufc, but he's not the priority".

As a result of this, Brighton are set to pounce on the Ecuadorian, with it being thought that Independiente del Valle have a good relationship with the Seagulls, with there being past dealings between the two, particularly regarding the sale of Billy Arce.

Recently, Independiente del Valle manager Santiago Morales insisted that United are yet to submit a bid for Caicedo, stating that other European clubs are interested.

Reports also indicate that Caicedo has plenty of agents, and United were finding it difficult to see who is actually representing him, hence the 'legal issues' that were previously mentioned.
