Luca Pellegrini is poised to complete a transfer to AC Milan, as he seeks a move away from Juventus.
The Rossoneri are searching for a new back-up to Theo Hernandez, with Fode Ballo-Toure set to leave the club in search of more game-time, having featured in 14 games in all competitions last season, with only six coming as starts.
With Hernandez being such a certain starter, it will take someone desperately hungry for minutes to challenge him for a spot in the side, and reports have indicated that Juventus left-back Pellegrini could be the one for Milan.
Alfredo Pedulla reported on Friday that the Italian is about to join Milan, with contact between the two parties taking place.
Pellegrini could be set to join on loan with an option to buy, which would then become an obligation to buy upon reaching certain conditions.
The 24-year-old found minutes hard to come by last season, having initially been shipped out on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt as part of the Bianconeri's talks to bring in Filip Kostic. However, while in Germany, Pellegrini managed just 14 games in the first half of the season, as he struggled with persistent injuries.
After that, he was recalled and loaned back out for the second half of the campaign, but this time to Lazio, where he enjoyed even less minutes, as Elseid Hysaj cemented his place as the starting left-back. At the capital he managed eight games in all competitions, yet most of them came as last-minute cameos.
At his age, Pellegrini will be keen to be starting games rather than being left on the bench, especially considering he had shown so much promise when he was initially breaking through the Cagliari squad a few years ago. His attacking attributes are ideal for sides like Milan that thrive so much when the likes of Hernandez makes strides to help out in attack, something Pellegrini could potentially replicate.
It is still unclear how much Juventus will demand for Pellegrini, with him now being comfortably out of the Bianconeri's plans for the season.
