Liverpool are reportedly serious about signing AC Milan's Franck Kessie, with them willing to offer him a significant pay rise in order to lure him to Merseyside.

Milan are currently struggling to renew Kessie's contract, with them seeing him as a key asset, especially after losing the likes of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu on free transfers this summer after the expiration of their contracts.

According to a report from SportMediaset (via MilanNews), Liverpool have a concrete interest in the 24-year-old, with them preparing to offer him a contract worth €8 million net per season.

Milan are willing to try and please Kessie, with him wanting a contract worth €6 million per season in order to extend his time with the Rossoneri.

Kessie's contract expires in June 2022, and Milan fans are worried that they might end up losing the star player on a free next season, with him being one of the most important players in the squad.

Last season, Kessie played in 50 games in all competitions for Milan, getting 14 goals and six assists, establishing himself as one of the best box-to-box midfielders in Serie A, along with being a clinical penalty taker.

Liverpool are determined to sign a midfielder to replace Georginio Wijnaldum, who left the club on a free transfer to join Paris Saint-Germain, and Kessie could be a great replacement for him, especially since the Ivorian is still only 24.

Kessie is currently valued at around €55 million (via transfermarkt.com), and so signing him on a free or for a reduced fee could be a great bit of business from Liverpool.
