Liverpool duo out of England squad for game against Kosovo

Liverpool duo out of England squad for game against Kosovo

England will have to make do with a 23-man squad for their final UEFA Euro 2020 qualifier against Kosovo, as Liverpool duo Joe Gomez and Jordan Henderson will both be unavailable for selection.

Joe Gomez, who has come under fire for his recent clash with Raheem Sterling, which resulted in the Manchester City winger being dropped for the recent game against Montenegro, has suffered a knock to the knee in training, even though he was expected to start the game against Kosovo.

Jordan Henderson on the other hand, is suffering from a viral infection.

England released an official statement on the matter, saying: "Henderson arrived in camp with a viral infection that has not fully cleared. Meanwhile, his Liverpool team-mate Gomez sustained a knock in training on Friday and has not recovered sufficiently to travel."

The duo have both returned to Liverpool as they aim to recover for club duties once the international break finishes.

Liverpool's next game is away to Crystal Palace on 23 November.
