Complications in Arsenal deal for Dominik Szoboszlai

Dominik Szoboszlai was almost certain of a move to Arsenal in January from Red Bull Salzburg, but some complications have arisen due to the release clause in his current contract.

Szoboszlai currently has a £22.6 million release clause, but according to reports from The Athletic, this release clause has to be paid in one installment and within two weeks of it being triggered.

The attacking midfielder is one of Europe's top prospects, being wanted by Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, RB Leipzig, and also Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The 20-year-old has racked up some very impressing numbers, getting eight goals and nine assists in 18 games in all competitions this season.

According to reports, sister club RB Leipzig are the leading contenders to land his signature, but Arsenal are closely monitoring him as well.

Arsenal must work swiftly if they are to get him in January, as there is a stipulation that Szoboszlai must give Salzburg notice by December 15 of his desire to leave the club, and the bids for him must be sent in by December 31.

The Gunners are in desperate need of some creativity, sitting low down in 15th, scoring just ten goals in the league this season, with only West Brom, Burnley and Sheffield United scoring less than them.

With so many clubs wanting him, it will be tough to see him going to Arsenal, especially given their struggles this season and with the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona being mentioned as potential buyers.
