Arsenal top target sends Hungary to UEFA Euro 2020

Arsenal transfer target Dominik Szoboszlai scored a very late winner to fire Hungary to the finals of the delayed UEFA Euro 2020 next summer, winning against Iceland on Thursday night.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been on the rise already at Red Bull Salzburg, and he scored a 92nd-minute curler against Iceland on Thursday at the Puskas Arena in Budapest to send Hungary to only their second major international tournament since 1986.

Arsenal have been monitoring Szoboszlai's progress, and have reportedly made contact already with the midfielder's agent about a potential transfer to the Emirates Stadium.

Szoboszlai has made an impressive start to the season with Red Bull Salzburg, scoring five goals and providing nine assists in 13 appearances in all competitions, including two goals in a very tough UEFA Champions League group.

He has also been linked with a move to partner club RB Leipzig, with several stars such as Naby Keita, Dayot Upamecano and Hwang Hee-chan already doing so in recent years, yet Szoboszlai's agent has denied that there is any pre-determined path.

His agent, Matyas Esterhaz denied that there is an agreement between RB Leipzig and Salzburg, saying "Dominik Szoboszlai has no agreement with Leipzig or any other club, except of course his current club Red Bull Salzburg".

Arsenal have pressed on to try and secure the transfer as quickly as possible, and according to reports, he would cost the Gunners around £18 million.

With Mesut Ozil falling out of favour with Mikel Arteta, Arsenal lack some genuine creativity in midfield, and signing Szoboszlai, who had 30 goal contributions for Salzburg last season, might be the transfer to solve plenty of their problems.
