West Ham United have reportedly been told that they will have to pay at least €50 million in order to sign Lille centre-back Sven Botman this summer.

According to a report from L'Equipe (print edition), Lille have told the Irons that they have placed a massive €50 million price tag on Botman, as they hope to keep the Dutch defender.

West Ham manager David Moyes is keen to strengthen his back line ahead of the season, especially with the likes of Fabian Balbuena departing at the end of last season.

According to reliable source ExWHUemployee, the signing of a new top class centre-back is now the priority for West Ham.

While there have been plenty of names linked with them this summer, Lille's Botman seems to be the number one target.

However, Lille have told West Ham that in order to sign him, they will have to shell out €50 million for the 21-year-old, with it probably being too much money for the Irons.

Missing out on Botman could be a huge loss for West Ham, with the U21 Netherlands international producing plenty of excellent performances in France last season, with him playing in 47 games in all competitions, as Lille won Ligue 1 against all odds.

While he would be a fine addition to the West Ham squad, especially since they are looking to improve on last season's impressive Premier League campaign, it remains to be seen whether they will be willing to pay the huge price tag that Lille have place on him.
