West Ham United have reportedly entered the race to sign Fenerbahce defender Attila Szalai, who is also wanted in the summer transfer window by several European sides.
Earlier on this month, Blikk reported that Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Leicester City are all interested in signing the 23-year-old.
The Hungarian defender has impressed this season ever since he joined in January from Apollon Limassol for €2 million, now becoming one of the most highly-rated defenders in European football.
According to Turkish outlet A Spor, Fenerbahce value him at a staggering €25 million, and if they sell him, they could make a huge profit out of the sale.
The reports claim that West Ham have joined the race to sign the defender, with Serie A sides Napoli and Lazio as well as Spanish side Sevilla also being interested in his services.
However, Szalai's contract with Fenerbahce runs until 2025, and the Turkish side are not interested in selling him right now.
The defender has been outstanding this season for both Apollon Limassol and Fenerbahce, even registering a good attacking output, scoring six goals and providing three assists this season.
West Ham are very solid defensively, with Craig Dawson, Fabian Balbuena, Issa Diop and Angelo Ogbonna all being very consistent this season in David Moyes' set up.
However, Moyes wants to add to his options in defence, and Szalai could prove to be the perfect signing for West Ham, yet it will be tough given the number of clubs interested in him.
Out of all the clubs, West Ham, Leicester, Napoli and Sevilla have the highest chances of playing in the UEFA Champions League next season, something that could prove to be vital in Szalai's decision on which club to move to.
