Tottenham Hotspur and AS Roma are reportedly set to rival each other for the signing of highly-rated RB Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi over the summer.

According to German outlet Bild, Spurs are currently considering a move for RB Leipzig's Peter Gulacsi, who has an £11 million release clause in his contract, but Jose Mourinho's Roma are set to rival them for his signature, along with Borussia Dortmund.

The 30-year-old has continued to show that he is one of the best goalkeepers in Europe right now, and given his age, he still has plenty to offer given the number of years that top goalkeepers tend to play for, often going into their late thirties.

Signing him for his £11 million release clause will seem like a steal, and since Roma and Dortmund are also interested, it will be a tough task for Spurs to get him in the summer.

Gulacsi has had another magnificent season with RB Leipzig, getting 20 clean sheets in all competitions, with 15 of them being in the Bundesliga, the most out of the whole league.

Prior to Leipzig, Gulacsi was on Liverpool's books, spending six years in England without ever making an appearance there, going on several loans only to end up at Red Bull Salzburg and then at RB Leipzig.

Spurs might be keen on signing him as a replacement for current club captain Hugo Lloris, who has been constantly linked with a move away from the club.

However, with Mourinho now at Roma, he will want several changes made to the current squad, with the club from the capital struggling massively defensively this season, conceding 53 goals in Serie A, the most out of any side in the top half of the table.

Signing Gulacsi could be a big statement by Mourinho, especially since he would trump his former club Spurs to his signature.
