Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly taken a 'step forward' in the signing of highly rated Sporting Lisbon defensive midfielder João Palhinha, who is also wanted by other clubs.
According to Friday's edition of Portuguese news outlet Record, Spurs have contacted Sporting to find out the conditions for the possible signing of Palhinha in the summer transfer window.
However, other clubs are also interested in him, with Atletico Madrid, Everton and Sevilla all being interested in signing the 25-year-old as well.
Despite this, the report claims that Atletico Madrid are not willing to spend more than €25 million on him, while Sevilla want to sell some players to possibly fund a deal for the midfielder.
While Everton are interested, they currently have 'other priorities' and are more interested in Palhinha's team-mate Matheus Nunes.
Palhinha is currently on international duty with Portugal at Euro 2020, and he came on in the second half against France, performing brilliantly during his time on the pitch.
He was ever-present in Sporting's team this season, playing in defensive midfield as they won the Liga NOS for the first time since 2001/02, playing 38 games in all competitions.
The report claims that Spurs are the latest club to go forward and show interest in the midfielder, yet it does not indicate whether any serious talks are ongoing.
