Premier League club pushing for Loftus-Cheek signing

Premier League club pushing for Loftus-Cheek signing

Chelsea are currently undergoing a mass clear-out of players that Frank Lampard has deemed surplus to requirements, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek seems to be the next one out of the door.

With Ross Barkley joining Aston Villa on a season-long loan, Loftus-Cheek is the other English midfielder that has failed to make a claim for a spot in Lampard's team.

Whilst Villa were also interested in Loftus-Cheek, with them opting for Barkley instead, it leaves the 24-year-old with limited options to leave Chelsea for, with West Ham United being the only real contenders to sign him.

Chelsea have plenty of other options in midfield, with N'Golo Kante, Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount, Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz and Billy Gilmour all being preferred in midfield, with them also pushing for the signing of Declan Rice.

Loftus-Cheek is available for a loan deal this summer, and whilst West Ham are pushing for his arrival, they are still doubtful over the Englishman's injury record.

Apart from this, he is also on £150,000-a-week wages at Stamford Bridge, possibly pushing the Irons away from his transfer even on a season-long basis.

Whilst West Ham need some form of inspiration going forward, they are still adamant on wanting a centre-back to shore up their back line, after pushing for Burnley's James Tarkowski throughout the summer.

If Chelsea allow West Ham to get Loftus-Cheek, they might be able to convince West Ham more easily to get Declan Rice, who has been a long-term target for the Blues.
