Newcastle United are reportedly lining up a move for Arsenal's Matteo Guendouzi, who is currently on loan at Marseille.

With Newcastle reportedly finding a manager, as they seek to finalise Eddie Howe's move to the club, they are now setting their sights on signing plenty of players in January.

While they are pushing for Barcelona's Philippe Coutinho and Bayern Munich's Niklas Sule, they are also keen to infiltrate the deal between Arsenal and Marseille for Guendouzi.

Guendouzi joined the French club at the start of the season on loan with an option to buy, but according to a report from Foot Mercato, the Magpies are trying to 'meddle' in a deal between the two clubs, as they look to tempt the 22-year-old to come to the club.

The French midfielder has seemingly revived his career at Marseille after a tough spell under Mikel Arteta at Arsenal, and as a result, Marseille are in pole position to make the move permanent.

While Newcastle will have money to spend next summer under their new ownership. they could find it hard to persuade the French midfielder to remain in the Premier League, with him feeling 'particularly good at Marseille' and a move away is not on his mind.

Guendouzi has impressed over in Ligue 1 this season, playing in 16 games in all competitions so far this season, playing across midfield, even scoring three goals and producing three assists in the process.
