When Xavi first joined Barcelona in November, he had already held a meeting with Joan Laporta and the rest of the Barcelona board on transfer targets to improve and strengthen the team.
He made it clear to Laporta that he wants to sign a centre-back, a striker and a winger.
As we all know, the club already signed the winger that Xavi Hernandez wanted which was Ferran Torres.
The club have now set their next target.
Xavi has set his sights on his next target for Barcelona, eyeing a move for current Juventus forward Alvaro Morata.
Xavi loves this type of player and he wants to sign him, preferably on a loan deal for now.
The player is unsatisfied with current situation at Juventus as he is not performing regularly and he does not have the best relationship with Massimiliano Allegri.
He knows that the club will not cash in on the player once his two-year loan deal from Atletico Madrid comes to an end, and so Morata, from his side, is also pushing for a move out of Juventus.
The player would love to play under Xavi at Barcelona and they want to sign the player on loan with an option to buy for €25 million from Atletico de Madrid.
The only thing stopping this move from happening is Juventus being unable to secure a replacement for Morata.
Recently they’ve been in direct talks with the representatives of Mauro Icardi, with Allegri seeing the Argentine as the perfect replacement for Morata and would love to sign him on loan.
They would like to sign him from Paris Saint-Germain on a loan deal with an option to buy for €35 million, with Icardi also pushing for a move away from the Parc de Princes due to his limited playing time.
Icardi will have a meeting with the PSG board soon to clarify and make it clear to the board that he’d like to leave on loan to Juventus.
This deal is the key to what is holding Morata’s move to Barcelona, as Juventus will try and hold on for as long as possible, until they get a replacement for the Spaniard.
