AC Milan, Arsenal and Liverpool are currently leading the race to land VfL Wolfsburg winger Josip Brekalo, with there being great competition other clubs as well.

According to a report from Calciomercato.com, Milan, Arsenal and Liverpool want to sign Wolfsburg winger Brekalo, with the likes of AS Roma and Atletico Madrid also being interested in the 22-year-old.

The Croatia international is a very versatile midfielder, either playing on the wings or as an attacking midfielder.

This season, he has been a crucial part of the Wolfsburg side that is challenging for Champions League football, scoring four goals and providing three assists in 27 Bundesliga games.

Milan want a right-winger after the struggles of Samu Castillejo and the inconsistency of Alexis Saelemaekers, and given Brekalo's young age and versatility, he could be a great option for the future.

Arsenal are in the market for a creative midfielder this summer, especially if they do not manage to sign Martin Odegaard permanently.

Arsenal also missed out on Dominik Szoboszlai in January, who signed for RB Leipzig, and apart from Brekalo, they are also interested in Borussia Dortmund's Julian Brandt and Leipzig's Marcel Sabitzer.

Whilst Roma and Atletico Madrid are also interested in Brekalo, Milan, Arsenal and Liverpool are the frontrunners for his signature, with the dynamic playmaker impressing numerous European giants.

Brekalo has a market value of €12 million (transfermarkt.com), and last summer according to a report from Gianluca Di Marzio, Wolfsburg wanted €20 million for him.
