Former Manchester United player Memphis Depay is on the verge of signing for FC Barcelona from Olympique Lyon, but his move to Spain depends on his former club.
Manchester United are currently pushing to sign a right-winger, after the move for Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho fell through, leading to them being linked with Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele.
Barcelona reportedly want to sell the winger permanently, but United are holding out for a loan deal, seeing him as a temporary alternative for Sancho.
Barcelona need to sell players before they are allowed to sign any other players, with Memphis being their primary target as they look to find a replacement for Luis Suarez.
They are also chasing Eric Garcia from Manchester City, but they need to sell Jean-Clair Todibo before doing so.
Signing Dembele would add to Manchester United's forward line, with them also being set to confirm the signings of free agent Edinson Cavani and highly-rated left-back Alex Telles.
Memphis now has to depend on United's transfer policy, as they continue to push to add reinforcements after them being demolished by Tottenham Hotspur 6-1 on Sunday.
Apart from these signings, United fans are also calling for a centre-back, yet that seems unlikely given the lack of time left to complete deals.
