Manchester United have plenty of players that have their contracts expiring in the summer, and top football journalist David Ornstein feels that some may be getting contract extensions soon.
United could be set to extend the contracts of Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and also Timothy Fosu-Mensah, with the trio's deals all expiring at the end of the season.
The Red Devils have the options to extend the contracts of Mata and Lingard by another year, and according to the Athletic's David Ornstein, there is 'a very good chance' that these extensions may be triggered by the club.
Whilst speaking on Ask Ornstein, he stated "I don't know exactly what is going to happen but history would suggest there's a very good chance that the two players with those options have them extended."
"Lingard [is] younger, so United might want to protect the value. Mata [is] older but he has been playing some great football of late."
Lingard has only featured in two Carabao Cup games this season, missing out on the rest of the games due to lack of fitness and due to isolation measures, whilst Mata has played seven times in all competitions, and has starred in the Carabao Cup, getting two goals and an assist in two games.
Fosu-Mensah's contract is also set to expire during the summer, but the Dutchman is reportedly keen on staying at Old Trafford, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also wants him at the club.
According to The Manchester Evening News, Fosu-Mensah has been offered a new contract at the club, and Solskjaer has made it clear to him that he wants him to stay, seeing him as part of his plans for the future, with the Dutchman still only 22-years-old.
Whilst Fosu-Mensah has only played twice in all competitions so far, he has been in the squad numerous times, and with injuries to Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw, he might find a spot in the team soon enough.
