Manchester United are on the hunt for a new right-back this summer, and have identified Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong as a key target.

The Red Devils are keen to upgrade their right full-back area, as Aaron Wan-Bissaka's future at the club remains uncertain despite working his way back into contention after the FIFA World Cup. Diogo Dalot has struggled since the World Cup, yet he seems to be getting integrated into the first-team again after injury, and has started the last two Premier League games.

Erik ten Hag is determined to strengthen the position, and German journalist Christian Falk has reported that Manchester United are 'in talks' for Leverkusen's Frimpong, and they are getting 'hotter and hotter'.

He added that Leverkusen are aware that they will most probably lose the Dutch right-back this summer, and they have given Arthur, their new full-back from America Mineiro, a contract until 2028.

The 22-year-old is the priority target for United, while fellow Dutchman Denzel Dumfries has also been identified as a possible alternative in the summer, yet only if the signing of the Leverkusen man doesn't materialise.

However, United are not the only ones interested in Frimpong, with a host of other sides also keen on the defender, including Barcelona. However, it remains to be seen whether the Spanish giants will be able to make a move for him, given concerns about Financial Fair Play regulations.

As a result, United are still leading the race for the Dutchman, as per Italian reporter Nicolo Schira.

Frimpong has had a very impressive season, in what has been a mixed campaign for Leverkusen, with him scoring eight goals and providing nine assists in 36 games in all competitions. He has featured either as a right-back or a right wing-back for the Bundesliga outfit, and has looked very promising in the attacking areas of the pitch.

On the other hand, while they have plenty of defensive attributes, both current United right-backs are relatively underwhelming in terms of attacking attributes. Dalot has just one goal and three assists in 34 appearances, while Wan-Bissaka only has a goal in 22 appearances.

If United are looking for a more attacking option at right-back, then there are not many options that are better than Frimpong.
