Manchester United eyeing €30m-rated Monaco defender

Manchester United are interested in signing 19-year-old AS Monaco centre-back Benoit Badiashile according to reports in France.

The French defender 20 appearances for Monaco in all competitions last season, becoming an integral part of the team in a season where they finished 9th, a much improved position than the previous season's 17th.

Several clubs have continued to scout the talented defender, with Chelsea, Tottenham and United all linked.

Previous reports have stated that Badiashile's price could rise to around €40 million, as Bayer Leverkusen offered €15 million and then €20 million in January, with both offers being rejected.

Reports on Sunday have claimed that Ed Woodward is keen on selling up to five players this summer, with three of them being defenders, rumoured to be Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo.

Rumours have stated that United 'have chances' to sign Badiashile, but it will not be easy to sign the Frenchman, with Monaco valuing him very highly.
