Lazio reject £50m Newcastle bid for striker

According to reports, Lazio have rejected a £50 million bid from Newcastle United for their striker Ciro Immobile.

Immobile emerged as a target earlier this week, after Newcastle put in a £50 million bid according to Italian outlet CalcioMercato.

Immobile has been magnificent for Lazio this season, with the 30-year-old scoring 30 times in 33 games in all competitions, as well as producing seven assists.

Immobile still has three years left on his contract, yet Newcastle still seem to be interested, with their initial £50 million bid possibly being worth a staggering £120 million in total.

Newcastle were willing to offer Immobile around £270,000 per week, equating to £14 million every season, offering a five-year contract.

However, Lazio are reportedly not listening to any offers for the Italian.

This is still a sign of intent from the potential new owners of Newcastle, with their aim being to reach European football once again.

The last time that Newcastle played in Europe was in 2012/13, when they reached the Quarter Finals of the UEFA Europa League.
