David Luiz horror show gives Man City win

The Brazilian defender put on a horrific performance against the Premier League champions reached its climax when he fouled Riyad Mahrez in the box after letting him get through, getting sent off in the process. The Arsenal centre-back came on for Pablo Mari in the 24th minute, but lasted only till the 49th minute, after receiving a red card.

The defender had already been at fault for the first goal of the game, with Raheem Sterling getting on the scoresheet after a tidy finish.

In the second half, Luiz had an even worse time, letting Riyad Mahrez go past him, before bringing him down in the box, getting sent off and giving away a penalty, which Kevin de Bruyne dispatched wonderfully to double Man City's advantage.

Manchester City went on to win the game 3-0 after playing on their one-man advantage even more, dominating the game.

David Luiz has now committed more errors leading to goals as a player than any other player in the league, making a total of three errors.

Luiz is also the first player to receive a red-card, concede a penalty and make a mistake that led to an opposition goal in a Premier League game since Carl Jenkinson did it for West Ham against Bournemouth back in August 2015.

Luiz has also given away a total of four penalties this season, the most since Jose Fonte at Southampton back in 2016/17.
