Chelsea to triple Timo Werner's wages in £53m deal

Timo Werner is set to become Chelsea's highest earner with a huge pay rise after terms were reportedly agreed for him to join Chelsea in the coming transfer window.

Chelsea have been looking for another striker to cool off the goalscoring pressure that Tammy Abraham has at the club, with the Englishman accounting for 25% of the club's goals in the Premier League.

Moussa Dembele and Victor Osimhen both looked like likelier targets with Werner being poised to join Liverpool, but the Reds failed to commit to the transfer, and the German opted for Chelsea instead. Werner had claimed that he preferred Liverpool, but a deal never materialised.

Chelsea have utilised the striker's release clause, and the contract that they are going to be giving the German is set to be more than the club's highest earner, N'Golo Kante.

The contract is rumoured to be around £190,000 per week, with the player's agency also set to receive £12 million for facilitating the deal.

This would mean that Werner's salary would be around triple the amount that he currently receives at RB Leipzig.

The question will be, how will Tammy Abraham fit in with Werner surely becoming the main striker? Will there be a striking duo, or is Abraham set to sit on the bench? One will have to wait and see.
