Barcelona should not have signed Antoine Griezmann claims presidential candidate Victor Font

One of Barcelona's leading presidential candidates, Victor Font, has criticised the club's decision to sign Antoine Griezmann in 2019.

The France international signed for Barcelona from Atletico Madrid for a staggering £108 million, with there being plenty of expectations on him linking up with Barcelona star Lionel Messi.

However, he has failed to find any sort of form, so far failing to live up to the extortionate transfer fee that he went for.

To add to this, there have also been suggested of a fractured relationship between Griezmann and Messi.

Font, who is currently running to take over the administration of the club after the heavily criticised Josep Bartomeu resigned in October, has provided a very damning verdict on the signing of the Frenchman.

Speaking with Cadena Cope on Wednesday night, Font said "Griezmann was a signing that shouldn't have been made."

Font, who is an early favourite to win the January elections, could be set to completely change the club and overhaul the squad to fit to the fans' desires, even if it means changing Ronald Koeman, who was appointed earlier this season.

Griezmann has endured another very rough start to the season, having nine appearances in all competitions, scoring just twice and producing just one assist in those appearances.

Font also claimed that under his leadership, Xavi would be the manager of the club and that he would give him all the power to sign the player that he wants, saying "If Xavi asked me to sign Sergio Ramos and it was economically viable, I would sign him."

Additionally, Lionel Messi showed even more signs of being unhappy at the club, being flogged by Spanish media once he arrived back in Barcelona after international duties with Argentina, saying "I'm tired of always being the problem for everything."
