AS Roma are looking for new centre-back options this summer, and Manchester United's Victor Lindelof has emerged as one of the primary targets.

The Swedish defender has produced relatively consistent performances for United over the last few years, despite the overall struggles the side has faced.

However, he has not featured in United's games so far this season, and with his contract expiring in 2024, he could well be on his way out of the club, with Roma in the race to sign him.

Jose Mourinho is a big fan of Lindelof, having signed him for United during his time at the English club, and he's keen to be reunited with the 28-year-old in Rome, according to Corriere dello Sport (via football-italia).

Sporting director Tiago Pinto has already been in contact with Lindelof's agents are is hoping to sign the Swede on loan with an option to buy for around €15 million.

Lindelof has been questioned for his physicality during his time in England, but he does have plenty of qualities that would be of benefit to Mourinho's side, especially his ability on the ball as a defender, as well as defensive awareness, being very good at reading play and making interceptions.

He is also a very flexible defender, being able to play at centre-back or right-back, as well as a defensive midfielder.

Lindelof was a prominent member of the squad last season, especially since Raphael Varane failed to nail down a certain starting spot due to injuries, leading to the Swedish defender making 35 appearances in all competitions, but given the signing of Lisandro Martinez, Lindelof could be further down the pecking order than before.
