Arsenal have reportedly started to work on a transfer for star Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves, who has been cleared for a move this summer.

According to a report from the Times, Arsenal want to strengthen their options in midfield, and now they are working on completing a deal for the Portuguese midfielder.

The Gunners want to make plenty of changes to their squad after having a disappointing season, and with Dani Ceballos not wanting to return to Arsenal after a two-year loan and Granit Xhaka being linked with a move to AS Roma, they could be very short in midfield options come the start of the season.

The report claims that Neves has been made available for transfer this summer, and therefore if Arsenal submit a suitable offer, Wolves will be tempted to sell him.

It has also recently been claimed by The Athletic that Neves could be set to leave Wolves this summer for £35 million, with this being the sort of fee that Arsenal want to pay.

Neves has showcased his ability on numerous occasions in the Premier League, leading to him also being linked with Manchester United.

This season, Neves played 40 games in all competitions, even getting five goals and two assists as he was one of the mainstays in the Wolves side.

The 24-year-old looks set to play for a bigger club, and Arsenal will probably face more competition for his signature given the relatively low price for such a quality midfielder.
