Arsenal are reportedly showing the most interest in promising Anderlecht midfielder Sambi Lokonga, who could be going to UEFA Euro 2020 with Belgium this summer.

According to a report from Le Derniere Heure, Arsenal are showing the strongest interest in the 21-year-old, and could be set to launch a bid for him.

Lokonga has been one of Anderlecht's standout stars this season, playing 37 games in all competitions, even captaining the side managed by Vincent Kompany during the whole of the second half of the season.

The Belgian has recently hinted to Le Derniere Heure that he feels that he is ready to take a step up in his career, with Arsenal being the likeliest to offer him a move this summer.

However, an offer is not expected to be made immediately, with Lokonga being on Belgium's standby list for the squad for Euro 2020, with this coming after his first call-up to the international squad in the last international break.

Lokonga is a midfielder with bags of potential, with Marca reporting in 2019 that he was wanted by Manchester City and Barcelona, yet he had stated that he wanted to stay in Belgium for two more years.

Two years on, Arsenal are set to try and test his resolve by stooping in for a move this summer.

In an interview with World Soccer, Roberto Martinez claimed that Lokonga has an 'exceptional' future ahead/

"We have got young players with exceptional futures," Roberto Martinez claimed during the interview, adding that "Yari Verschaeren has already played for the Red Devils. Jeremy Doku is growing really well. Other players are developing quickly because they are playing first-team football. The environment is positive for the likes of Marco Kana, Elias Cobbaut, Sambi Lokonga."

Mikel Arteta might want the club to go in an bid for Lokonga before Euro 2020, as if he does go to the tournament and shine, he will attract the interest of other clubs and possibly push the transfer fee that Anderlecht want way up.
