Ahmed Elmohamady came on from off the bench to rescue a vital point for Aston Villa against Newcastle United at St James' Park on Wednesday night.
The game looked set to end as a Newcastle win, as Dwight Gayle came on from the bench to replace Joelinton, being set up by Andy Carroll for a very easy finish in the 68th minute.
However, Elmohamady, who had been on for around five minutes, managed to score from a corner just seven minutes from the end of the game, giving Villa a huge boost in the relegation fight.
In their fight for survival, Villa still remain second from bottom, but with both West Ham and Bournemouth losing, Villa managed to catch up to both of them, with all three of them now standing on 27 points.
Both Newcastle and Aston Villa managed to create plenty of chances throughout the game, yet Elmohamady's late goal managed to be the decisive one that earned Villa a well-fought for point.
After dropping points, Newcastle missed out on the chance of possibly going up to 11th, with them now sitting in 13th place with 39 points.
