Transfer talk of the day: 17th July 2018

Since the World Cup has ended, it seems to be the perfect time to bring back the 'Transfer talk of the day', this time for the 17th of July 2018.

Daley Blind has officially returned to his boyhood club, AFC Ajax, for a fee that is set to be in the region of £18.5 million. The versatile Dutch international was forced out of the first eleven after the impressive form of Ashley Young, the signing of Nemanja Matic and Jose Mourinho's insistence not to play him as a central defender.

Real Madrid have managed to agree a fee with Chelsea for the signing of Thibaut Courtois in the region of £35 million. The Belgian goalkeeper got the Golden Glove award in the World Cup and is set to be rewarded even further with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu. The Belgian has agreed a contract reported to last for four years, keeping him at the club until 2022.

After having a bid rejected, Liverpool have once again opened up negotiations with AS Roma regarding the transfer of Alisson Becker. Liverpool have bid £62 million for the Brazilian, after he had a decent World Cup with Brazil.

Chelsea are reportedly in discussions with Juventus over a possible transfer for Gonzalo Higuain in the region of £53 million. This comes after Higuain's starting place in the squad is under extreme threat after the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid, who is set to become the club's main striker.

Burnley have continued to have talks with Swansea City over a possible move for Sam Clucas, with the midfielder impressing last season despite suffering relegation with the Welsh club. Sean Dyche missed out on the midfielder last summer after he joined Swansea from Hull City, yet the manager might still get him only a year after his transfer to Swansea.

Manchester United have reportedly shown interest in both Ivan Perisic and Ante Rebic after the Croatian duo had a remarkable campaign for Croatia. Whilst Perisic has been on Mourinho's radar for a long time, Rebic has come into the fray after impressing in this summer's tournament with his versatility in attack as well as his strength.

Mario Balotelli has returned to training with OGC Nice, after his proposed move to Olympique Marseille was stalled. The Italian was in top form for Nice last season, and he has attracted interest from one of the rivals in Ligue 1. Despite failing to attend at the start of the training camp due to his move being on the verge of happening, the negotiations have now reportedly broken down, thus allowing the striker to return to training.

Real Madrid do not seem to be the only ones interested in capturing Eden Hazard's signature, after the Belgian has also attracted interest from their rivals FC Barcelona. The winger has been on the verge of transferring to the Los Blancos for the whole summer, especially since he indicated that he might be on the move this summer. However, Barcelona are ready to rival Real Madrid for his signature, as they seek to strengthen their attack even further.
